Research Bytes: New Instagram Account Showcases Student Fellowships and Research

This month, Scripps launched a new Instagram account,聽@scripps.fellowships, to highlight and share information about students鈥 fellowships, research, and scholarship opportunities. In a series called 鈥淩esearch Bytes,鈥 the account uses Instagram鈥檚 IGTV video platform to feature brief vlogs about students鈥 summer research projects and to provide information about the fellowships that made these projects possible.

Announcing the Passing of Life Trustee Nancy Hart Glanville Jewell 鈥49

Life Trustee Nancy Glanville Jewell 鈥49 passed away on August 2, 2020, at the age of 92. Nancy joined 桃子视频鈥檚 Board of Trustees in 1990 and was a member of the College鈥檚 inaugural class of Life Trustees. In 2007, Nancy鈥檚 son, John, established the Nancy Glanville Jewell 鈥49 Endowed Scholarship in honor of his mother.

In Designing Remote Courses, Faculty Prioritize Creativity and Care

When Scripps announced in early July that remote instruction would continue for the fall 2020 semester, faculty expected that there would be challenges in conducting classes through online platforms, but also opportunities to expand the idea of what a liberal arts education could look like. Now that the fall semester is underway, Scripps professors have risen to those challenges and opportunities, creating courses that are flexible, creative, and student-centered.
