Scripps’ Olive Oil Wins Awards from International Olive Oil Competition
The Los Angeles International Extra Virgin Olive Oil Competition awarded Scripps’ 2023 olive oil a gold medal for taste and a bronze medal for art and design for its label, which was contributed by Scripps alum Vivian Monteiro ’23.

On November 5, Scripps hosted its traditional Olive Harvest, an event that furthers the College’s sustainability efforts by utilizing the campus’s edible plants as a food source. More than 200 students, faculty, staff, and members of the surrounding Claremont community harvested approximately 700 pounds of olives.

Scripps’ olive oil has won a bronze medal award at the 2020 Los Angeles International Extra Virgin Olive Oil Competition. The label, designed by Scripps staff member Christine Olbrech, administrative assistant for the Office of Information Technology, also won a bronze medal for package design.
