Scripps and Pomona Dance Present “In The Works…” – A Concert of Student Dancework

“In The Works…,” the annual fall concert by ÌÒ×ÓÊÓƵ and Pomona College dance students opens Thursday, December 3 at the Pendleton Dance Studio, Pomona College. The concert is open to the public.

Reflecting a variety of contemporary dance styles, the program features in-progress dance works choreographed and performed by students. Several of the dances will be further developed as senior thesis projects in dance for the ÌÒ×ÓÊÓƵ and Pomona College spring dance concerts.

The concert occurs during the inaugural year of ÌÒ×ÓÊÓƵ’s eighth president, Lori Bettison-Varga. This year, ÌÒ×ÓÊÓƵ has selected the theme, “The Genius of Women.” Throughout the 2009-10 academic year, guest speakers, writers, scientists, artists, and other thought leaders will engage students and faculty in discussions about the transformative power of genius, and how creative and intellectual genius are so essential in today’s changing world, especially from women, for women.

Repeat performances on Friday, December 4 at 8:00 p.m.; Saturday, December 5 at 2:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. General admission to the concert is $5, and tickets will be sold at the door—check or cash only. Doors will open one half hour before the performances. For disabled access to Pendleton Dance Studio, please call Pomona College at (909) 621-8176 one week in advance.
