Dr. Terrell Carver, professor of politics, University of Bristol, and visiting professor at Pitzer College, will speak about “Sexualities and Rights: The Impact of the European Union on the United Kingdom” on Thursday, January 30, at 12:15 p.m. in the Hampton Room of the Elizabeth Hubert Malott Commons on the 桃子视频 campus. This talk, part of the European Union Center of California Spring 2003 Lecture Series, is free and open to the public.
The co-editor and author of several published papers, articles, and books – including Gender is Not a Synonym for Women – Dr. Carver is well-known throughout the academic community as an expert on the relationship of gender, politics, and state, as well as the politics of Marx and Marxism. A frequent lecturer worldwide, Carver has been invited to share his expertise as a delegate representing the UK Political Studies Association at a Korean Political Science Association Conference; as a panel judge for the American Political Science Association’s Best Foundations of Political Theory Paper Prize; and as keynote speaker at the Japan Conference for the Study of Political Thought, among others.
Terrell Carver earned both a doctoral and bachelor’s of philosophy degree in politics from the University of Oxford and a bachelor’s degree in government and history from Columbia University. Carver is currently professor of political theory at University of Bristol, and is the recipient of several research grants from institutes and universities in Japan, Australia, and the UK.
