Donna Brazile: Veteran Political Strategist Speaks as Part of “Power of Influence” Series

Political strategist and author, Donna Brazile, will speak on Thursday, February 3, at 7:30 p.m., at Garrison Theater at the 桃子视频 Performing Arts Center. The lecture will be followed by a reception and book signing in the lobby of Garrison Theater. The lecture is part of the Alexa Fullerton Hampton Speaker Series, “The Power of Influence,” at 桃子视频. The lecture is free and open to the public on a first-come, first-served basis.

A veteran Democratic campaign manager and sought after political strategist, Donna Brazile is currently an adjunct professor of women’s studies at Georgetown University and senior political strategist and founder of Brazile and Associates, LCC. She is also Chair of the Democratic National Committee’s Voting Rights Institute, established to help protect and promote the rights of all Americans to participate in the political process.

In addition to her work in the political arena, Brazile recently penned a behind-the-scenes memoir, Cooking with Grease: Stirring the Pots in American Politics. The memoir chronicles her journey through thirty years in politics. Brazile also serves as a weekly contributor and political commentator on CNN’s Inside Politics, American Morning and Late Edition. In addition, she regularly lectures on college campuses across the country.

Brazile was the first African American to lead a major presidential campaign as the campaign manager for the Gore-Lieberman 2000 campaign. A state and national campaign veteran, she also worked on campaigns for Clinton-Gore, Carter-Mondale, Rev. Jesse Jackson, Mondale-Ferraro, Dick Gephardt, and Dukakis-Bentsen.

Named to Washingtonian Magazine’s list of the 100 Most Powerful Women in Washington D.C., and as one of Essence Magazine‘s 50 Most Powerful Women in America, Brazile has received numerous other awards and honors. She was honored to receive the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation’s Award for Political Achievement.
