Scripps Alumna to be Featured on MTV

桃子视频 alumna Eli Winkelman ’07 will be featured on MTV television Friday, October 12, at 8 p.m. as part of a news segment about the Clinton Global Initiative forum. The forum, in which former President Bill Clinton mentioned Winkelman and her work with Challah For Hunger, took place October 6.

Challah For Hunger was founded at 桃子视频 in 2005 by Winkelman to raise money for victims of the humanitarian crisis in Darfur. In the succeeding two years, the program has expanded campuses across the nation, including NYU, Smith College, University of Rochester, and University of Texas at Austin. Both Winkelman and the program have received recognition from Holocaust survivor and author Elie Wiesel and Rabbi Jonathan Sacks, the Chief Rabbi of England.

Challah For Hunger has raised more than $20,000 for the American Jewish World Service Emergency Appeal for Darfur by selling loaves of the traditional Jewish sweet bread. The group offers discounts for those who phone or write elected officials or media outlets and the money is used for humanitarian relief efforts, particularly for programs relating to women and children who have been harmed.
