The New York Times California State Senator Hannah-Beth Jackson ’71 about the California Consumer Privacy Act, a data collection and consumer privacy law that will take effect in January 2020. The law will give consumers the right to know the data that companies are collecting about them, the reason for the collection, and with whom the data will be shared. “It’s important . . . that we protect what we’ve got because a lot of states have looked to California,” she said. “Remember, privacy is a constitutional right.”
