W.M. Keck Science Department Associate Professor of Environmental Science Branwen Williams by Newsweek about a study that examines coral bleaching off the coast of Florida. Though not a part of the team that conducted the research, which concludes that human activity has been the primary driver of reef degradation in the Looe Key Reef, Williams, who studies ocean and climate variability, weighed in on the study鈥檚 significance. 鈥淭his study鈥dentifies a way for local communities to help reefs by reducing the local stress to corals,鈥� she said. 鈥淭his is a case of think local and act local.鈥�
