In the Media: Judith Wilde ’71 Examines Presidential Hiring Process Trends in Higher Ed Dive

In a piece she co-authored for Higher Ed Dive, Judith Wilde ’71, a research professor in the Schar School of Policy and Government at George Mason University, that college and university presidents are growing more diverse and staying for shorter periods. However, she writes, “perhaps the most noteworthy change related to who occupies the corner office in ‘Old Main’ is in the selection process,” noting that by 2015, 92 percent of presidential searches advertised in the Chronicle of Higher Education named a search firm or executive consultant as part of the process.
