Alfredo Ramos Martinez, the 鈥淔ather of the Mexican Mural Movement of the 20th Century,鈥� is commissioned to create the聽, 鈥淭he Flower Vendors.鈥� The entire composition is sketched on the plaster wall, which is over 100 feet long, and begins work on several panels. He falls ill and passes away shortly after, on November 8, 1946, leaving the mural unfinished.
Scripps receives an autographed first edition collection of T.S. Eliot鈥檚 works, whose relationship with Scripps began when he lectured at the College in January 1933.
